Another chance to work on your personal "to sew" list and have some fun doing it.

For those new to the group this monthly meetup is a chance to get together and get help on your unfinished projects - like pinning that dart out in the back or cutting that really long seam or getting the right length on your pant hem. Even if you don't need any help, just come along to chit chat and maybe help out a fellow sewer. We get so many different levels of expertise that somebody is bound to know the answer to your problem.

Bring your project supplies and sewing machine and a willingness to help. We'll be there from 1-5 pm

exciting! i'm also picking brains to find a cheap old electiric straightstitch, hopefully y'all will have some leads- i've been pursuing it steadily for 1 month now and still no affordable options (people think they have "rare" antiques- broken and incomplete and overpriced. yeesh. plus i need a lot of patternmaking advice. so looking forward to this!

    •  First Samples was a beautiful, clean, well-lit, spacious sewing studio with a very gracious feel. I felt like i had entered a sewing afterlife and wondered what i had done to deserve it! Though i got there all sleep-deprived and twitchy the super-clean set-up made it easier to reign in my thinking process and Shauna and Susan were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to break down an incredibly complex group of pattern design problems and answering the many questions i had. I learned so much i'm, not sure how much i can retain long-term, but i did my best to jot down the gist in a manner i'd be able to understand later. I was really amazing- i hope i'll get a chance to more well rested and less spacy for the next one!

I had a great time meeting new people and seeing what everyone else was working on. The levels of knowledge and experience was greatly varied, but I think that is why it works so well, because there is always someone you can learn from or share ideas with.
    •  Thanks for the help, y'all--it was great to have a place to hang out, chat, get help with my project, and sew!
